Exercises for Autism

People often ask which exercises are best for autists. That is a tricky question. There are no "special" exercises that are "one size fits all." Just as non autists have varying medical conditions, so do autists. While core work may be best for one, it may not be best for all. A client with no medical restrictions may benefit from plyometrics, when one with a hiatal hernia will not. It is strongly recommended to meet with a trainer to discuss limitations and restrictions.
Apt Fitness, Inc., requires medical clearance from a licensed physician prior to commencement of training. Withholding information regarding medical conditions could place the participant at risk for injury. It is not required at the time of the initial consultation, but it is required prior to the first session. Typically primary care physicians can provide a simple note, listing limitations and restrictions.
Failure to disclose limitations, restrictions, and conditions may result in termination of the client-trainer relationship and forfeiture of session payment(s).

Mission Statement

To offer exercise solutions to disadvantaged individuals affected by autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, depression, and anxiety, and to demonstrate how exercise can be used in lieu of prescriptions in many cases.

Apt Fitness, Inc., is a Florida not for profit corporation, recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3), public charity. We offer personal training and walking programs. Our services are offered to individuals affected by autism spectrum disorders (ASD), attention deficit hyper activity disorder (ADHD), depression, anxiety, and other cognitive and neurological disorders. Our trainers are volunteers and do not get paid for their services. Contact us to see how you can qualify for exercise and fitness solutions at little to no cost.

In addition to personal training, we also assist with understanding diet and meal choices. Meal planning on a tight budget is difficult when healthy foods are more costly. We can help you understand how to count calories and which food sources are optimal for healthy living.

We focus on facilitating healthier choices to improve oxygen and blood circulation, stamina, strength, endurance, agility, and flexibility. If your goal is not to lose weight, we respect that.
